Hope all of you had a marvelous holiday season and are ready to get 2008 off to a great start. I was fortunate enough to see all of my family sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I went hiking with my two grandsons in Wisconsin Dells during their Thanksgiving break and went to New York with my daughter during December for some shopping and shows. I also visited with my editor while in New York and then went to Shreveport Christmas Eve to visit all my sisters and a couple of my nieces. There was lots of talk and laughter. And lots of food, of course.

I’m very excited about the books I have coming out during 2008.

We’ll continue with the stories of the Four Brothers of Colts Run Cross with Point Blank Protector in February and with Loaded in June. Then in November, we’ll return to Jack’s Bluff Ranch for Miracle at Colts Run Cross. This is a heartwarming story that reinforces all the love and closeness of the wonderful Collingsworth family.

I’ll also be researching my next series. I won’t give the title away, but I will say it will be an action-packed and very sensual and romantic series of three books with the most heroic Texans you can imagine.

As you can see, I’ll be very busy this year with my writing activities, but I’ll be certain to find time for some of my other favorite activities as well. I’m hoping to improve my golf game, read lots of books, enjoy my family and my husband and I plan to do some traveling. Hopefully we’ll be visiting the northwest after the RWA conference in July and I’ll have to make several trips to the Chicago area to visit my grandsons and to the beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama. And I’ll be attending and speaking at several conferences both in Texas and across the United States. Who knows, maybe we’ll run into each other somewhere along the way.

Here is a picture of my daughter and me when we were enjoying the Christmas holidays.

And a photo of my grandsons, the light of my life.

And as always, I’d like to share a recipe with you. This is one of my family’s favorite and I always serve it at least once during the Christmas holidays. But it’s great anytime, especially if you love oysters as my family does. And, like all my favorite recipes, it’s super easy to prepare.

Oyster and Artichoke Soup

6 Tablespoons butter
½ cup chopped green onions
Pinch of thyme
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 Tablespoons flour
1 can chicken broth
2 pints oysters, drained. (keep the juice from the oysters.)
2 cups of water
1 large can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
Salt to taste (approx. 2 teaspoonfuls)
A couple of shakes of hot sauce
1 cup whipping cream

Sauté onions, thyme and pepper in melted butter. When tender, whisk in the flour.

Add broth, liquid from oysters, water, chopped artichokes, salt and hot sauce and simmer for thirty minutes. Add oysters and cook until the edges begin to curl, about ten minutes. Then add whipping cream and serve.

And enjoy!

Now stay warm and healthy. And be sure to find time to curl up with a good book. Happy reading!
